An Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) is a solution that makes use of the Global Positioning System(GPS) to enable a business or agency to remotely track the location of its vehicle fleet by using the internet. Wireless communications between the device and the supporting software provide an online picture of the real-time location of the vehicle on a map along with the vehicle status reporting capabilities. On-board devices have been designed to support the AVL system requirement using GPS.
